YOU are invited to become a FringeNYC-lebrity! FringeNYC-lebrities are a very special group of online fundraisers for The New York International Fringe Festival. As a FringeNYC-lebrity, our goal is not to get you to make a donation yourself (though you’re welcome to!). It’s more about using your connections, influence, and network of colleagues and friends to raise support and awareness of FringeNYC.
Our goal in starting an online fundraising campaign like the FringeNYC-lebrities group is to meet the fundraising challenge we’ve set for ourselves: to match our funding from the City of New York ($35,000) with donations from individuals this year. It’s a tall order – but we hope that given the size of the FringeNYC community, we’ll have at least 1,000 FringeNYC-lebrities by the end of 2008. And like the festival itself, each of us will contribute a little bit and we’ll make something extraordinary happen.
HOW DOES IT WORK? Each FringeNYC-lebrity will create an online fundraising badge. It’s very simple (it takes about ten minutes) and is a way of taking your message of support for FringeNYC with you wherever you go on the internet. The FringeNYC-lebrities will have their own page on www.FringeNYC.org, which is where we’ll also record our total donations to date. Your FringeNYC-lebrity badge allows you to raise awareness and money for FringeNYC by easily placing it on your blog, social networking site or web page. You can personalize the badge with a photo, video and/or text and then link to where viewers can support FringeNYC.
HOW DO PEOPLE MAKE DONATIONS? In addition to your photo or video, and personal message about FringeNYC, the badge includes both a place for your friends to share (by forwarding to their friends) and make a donation. The donation link is simply a link to our page for an organization which processes online donations for us.

Just RIGHT CLICK the link above and open the page in a new tab. Then start by filling in the information in the 'Register To Build a Badge' section. The purpose of creating a password is so that you can come back to the site if you would like to edit your badge. Donate to your own badge – people like to feel they are part of a larger effort. It’s not inspiring to see zero donations on a badge, so donate to your own badge to get the momentum started.

When you’ve created your badge, make sure to forward your confirmation email that contains the code to: FringeNYCelebrities@FringeNYC.org. We’ll post your badge with the others on a special page on FringeNYC.org.
Again, we are not expecting any one FringeNYC-lebrity to raise a big amount of money…but we know that we know a lot of people and we’re hoping this is an easy way for you to lend your star-power to support of FringeNYC.
